Wisdom 18: The Consequences of Following Endless Hopes<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Imam Ali (peace be upon him) said:<\/p>\n

“Whoever allows himself to be carried away by the reins of his hopes will stumble upon his appointed end.”<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Summary of the Wisdom<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

This wisdom warns against long, unrealistic, and excessive worldly hopes<\/strong> that distract a person from life’s true purpose.<\/p>\n

While pursuing beneficial goals is encouraged, becoming consumed by endless ambitions may cause a person to neglect Allah, the Hereafter, and the reality of death.<\/p>\n

Before such hopes are fulfilled, death may unexpectedly arrive.<\/p>\n

1. Hope Is a Blessing\u2014When It Is Balanced<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Hope and aspiration are not inherently blameworthy<\/strong>. In fact, they are among Allah’s blessings.<\/p>\n

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is reported to have said:<\/p>\n

\n

“Hope is a mercy from Allah for my community. Without hope, no mother would nurse her child, and no farmer would plant a tree.”<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Hope motivates people to:<\/p>\n
